The Darlala Motel is situated in Ngukurr, nestled on top of a ridge with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The location offers a magnificent sunset vista.
The township of Ngukurr is located on the Roper River in South East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. It is situated 650 kms south east of Darwin via Katherine which is the closest regional centre some 310 kms away via the Stuart and Roper Highways.
DRIVING TO NGUKURR:
The travelling time between Katherine and Ngukurr usually takes 3.5 to 4 hours. The last 70km’s of the 310km drive from Katherine to Ngukurr is on an unsealed road. We recommend travelling in day light only as the road is treacherous with many wild animals and cattle sharing the road and two river crossings. In addition, road trains operate frequently on the single lane Roper Highway.
DIRECTIONS TO MOTEL
As you enter Ngukurr take the first right hand turn (keeping the school on your right) the motel is 250 meters ahead on the right.
The road is usually open during the dry season. The new bridges for Roper river and Wilton crossing are now open, making travelling out to Ngukurr, especially during the wet season, much easier. Please ensure you check the conditions before attempting the drive in the wet season, as parts of the road can be closed.
